Shireen Bangash is an associate with Renouf Law. Shireen joined the firm in 2022, after articling and working as an associate lawyer at a prominent Edmonton area criminal defence firm. Shireen’s practice is focused on criminal defence and appellate work, including offences under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Traffic Safety Act and other regulatory legislation.
Shireen graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in April 2020, where she focused her legal studies on criminal law specifically. While in law school, Shireen dedicated a majority of her time to assisting low-income individuals charged with criminal offences through Student Legal Services (“SLS”), a non-profit, student run organization. Shireen believes strongly that finances should not pose a barrier to accessing justice, and she dedicated significant time to assisting clients through SLS as a volunteer, employee, and project coordinator throughout all three years of law school. During her time with SLS, Shireen represented dozens of individuals charged with a wide range of criminal and regulatory offences, including drug possession, assault, mischief, impaired driving, and possession of weapon offences. Shireen is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Student Legal Services.
Since graduating law school, Shireen has had the opportunity to run and assist with a variety of extremely serious cases, including allegations of sexual assault, drug trafficking, fraud, manslaughter and murder. She has worked on, and appeared as second chair, on files at both the trial and appellate level. Shireen has also appeared before the Parole Board of Canada and the SafeRoads Alberta Review Board.
Shireen is happy to assist you, no matter the type of allegation you are facing. Shireen accepts private and Legal Aid clients. She will give your case the attention that it deserves. If you need assistance or advice, contact Shireen at (780) 424-6750 or sbangash@renouflaw.com to set up a consultation appointment.
